Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 Moves Forward
Sempra Infrastructure received U.S. Department of Energy approval to export 13.5 million tonnes of LNG annually to non-free-trade countries. This key permit boosts the proposed Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 project, which could double the site’s total capacity to 26 Mtpa. Phase 1 is under construction, with operations set for 2027–2028. Great Whites in the Gulf Debut
Chester Moore’s new documentary on great white sharks in the Gulf will premiere June 21 at the Museum of the Gulf Coast. Screenings are at noon and 1 p.m. during the free family day event. Visitors can enjoy shark facts, activities, and educational exhibits. Read more here!
Mout’s BBQ Closes, Food Truck Rolls On
Mout’s Barbeque in Winnie has closed to focus on family, though their Mama Mout’s food truck will continue serving. A farewell pop-up is set for June 27–28. Read more here!
Swan Lake Ballet Glides Into Beaumont
World Ballet Company brings Swan Lake to Julie Rogers Theatre on March 15, 2026. Presale ends June 5; general tickets start at $55 on June 6. Read more here!
Panera Bread Closes Beaumont Location
Panera Bread on Dowlen Road in Beaumont closed unexpectedly due to low sales, affecting 15 employees. The café ceased operations at 4 p.m. with no prior public notice. Read more here!
LSCPA Hosts 4th of July Celebration
Lamar State College Port Arthur will hold its free Fourth of July Celebration on campus with games, food trucks, music, and giveaways from 6–8:30 p.m. The evening ends with a 9 p.m. fireworks show over the Seawall, sponsored by the City of Port Arthur. Free ice cream from Motiva adds a cool treat to the festivities. Read more here!
